City of London Corporation Public Consultation on future public space

City of London Corporation Public Consultation on future public space

The City of London Corporation has highlighted several new proposals for improvements in and around the EC3 ‘Eastern Cluster’ area; with an emphasis to create “an exceptional urban environment which is attractive, welcoming and vibrant”.

In the face of growing worker numbers due to the increasing number of new office developments in the typical district where the majority of skyscrapers are housed, the City understands it has a responsibility to improve public realms. The public realm must respond to these demands in order to maintain the area’s attractiveness as a world-class business destination and increasingly as a hub for culture and leisure.

Local amenities are of particular importance along with employers making location decisions based on the quality of the buildings and the public realm that they can offer their employees. The above map indicates areas, similarly to the Aldgate Square regeneration, which will continue to drive the worker’s perception of the City of London as a global leading business hub.

The Consultation period is still open and can be found here.
